1. Calories = Alcohol + Sugar
Formula: (Volume(mL) × ABV × 0.789 × 7.89) + (Volume(mL) × Sugar(g/L) × 4 / 1000)
Ethanol density: 0.789 g/mL. Alcohol calories: 7.89 kcal per gram. Sugar calories: 4 kcal per gram.
Example: 175 mL glass of 13% ABV red wine with 3 g/L sugar.
Alcohol calories = 175 × 0.13 × 0.789 × 7.89 ≈ 142 kcal
Sugar calories = (175 × 3 × 4)/1000 ≈ 2.1 kcal

2. Sugar Content (grams & teaspoons)
Sugar grams = (Glass mL × Sugar g/L) / 1000
Then teaspoons = grams / 4.2 (since 1 tsp sugar ≈ 4.2g).
Example: 175 mL of off-dry white wine (12 g/L sugar).
Sugar = (175 × 12)/1000 = 2.1 grams → about 0.5 teaspoon.
3. BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) — Widmark Formula
BAC% = (Ethanol grams / (Weight kg × Distribution Ratio)) / 10 - (0.015 × hours)
Distribution Ratio: Male ~0.68, Female ~0.55, Other ~0.6. Elimination rate: average 0.015% per hour.
Example: A 70 kg male drinks 2 glasses (175 mL each) of 13% wine (≈ 28.7g ethanol total) over 1 hour.
Raw BAC = (28.7) / (70 × 0.68 × 10) ≈ 0.060%

Can I rely on BAC for driving decisions?
